CHICAGO – Tiny Tapp & Cafe, a Chicago waterside restaurant, bar and cafe located on Riverwalk, has partnered with FanFood, a Chicago-based technology company that provides on-premise food and beverage mobile ordering, to offer contactless table service for customers visiting the restaurant and cafe this year.

As bars and restaurants gradually re-open for dine-in, customers can expect a safer and more convenient ordering experience at Tiny Tapp’s Riverwalk location. Guests will be able to scan a QR code specific to each table to view the food and drinks menu, and order directly on their phone without waiting for a server or entering a table number. The rest of the dine-in experience will be similar to what guests are accustomed to — servers will bring food and drinks to the table, and customers can close the tab after the meal.

To best mimic the dine-in experience while minimizing physical interactions, FanFood has developed features specific to table services, such as opening a tab that one can close off after the meal, and adding customized tips at the end. Guests can even track real-time order status on their phone as their order progresses through the kitchen. When adding items to cart, guests can also add special instructions, and customize toppings as needed.

“We’re really excited to finally find a contactless ordering solution that works for our customers and meets our operational needs,” said Mark William Johnson, partner of Tiny Tapp & Cafe. “The FanFood solution can help us stay compliant with COVID-19 guidelines, and make the dine-in experience more convenient for customers, who no longer have to wait around for a server to order food and drinks.”

The mobile ordering system is also expected to increase operational efficiency for the restaurant, since staff don’t have to worry about manually taking orders and handling transactions, and can focus on fulfilling orders and answer special customer requests.

“It’s really exciting to have another Chicago partner on board and we’re honored to be helping local businesses reopen this year,” said Carson Goodale, co-founder and chief strategy officer of FanFood. “We’re looking forward to helping more local businesses create a safe, convenient and seamless guest experience, while hopefully making up for the lost revenue in 2020.”

FanFood also runs a Chicago program called BuildingEats that directly connects local restaurants and food trucks with buildings for meal drop-offs and food truck events.
